
Introducing the Cast & Creatives for
Boys Will Be Dogs

Al Groppi (Playwright - they/them) is a queer multidisciplinary theater artist based in Brooklyn whose works explore justice, metaethics, and abstract deconstructions of personhood. Their writing has been seen in educational settings in both NYC and Illinois, but this reading will be their official NYC playwrighting debut! They have also performed at a variety of off-off and off-Broadway venues throughout NYC, including The Connelly, the wild project, and Triskelion Arts, and with HARP Theatricals as Adrian in Kayla Williams’ “The Sunset Plays”. Following this reading, “Dogs” will be workshopped in Evanston, IL with LibLab Productions, and you can catch Al as Greg in Epheverie Theater Company’s “Table for 2” at The Tank, August 29th and 30th. Heather Bildman (Director - she/her) is a theater artist who is passionate about creating more opportunities for emerging artists by generating new work. She is thrilled to be collaborating with Al and Harp on this boundary pushing project! Her recent projects have been featured at the Concord Theatricals OOB Festival, AMT Theater, The Tank, RE/VENUE @ The Bechdel Project, Dixon Place & New York Theater Festival. Susana Correa (Assistant Director - she/her) is a queer, Latinx, visual, technical and performing artist. She earned her BA in Anthropology and Theatre Arts from California State University, Chico with a minor in Dance. Her Certificate in Visual Anthropology has allowed her to work on documentaries for the Advanced Laboratory of Visual Anthropology (ALVA) at CSU Chico. She has participated in various local, community, and educational roles as a director, choreographer, designer and musician. Her choreography and dance has been showcased twice in the CSU Dance Collective as well as in a dance club, Momentum.

Renly Wilson (TEDDY - he/they) is an actor, musician, writer, and cat dad based out of NYC. Renly is represented by UIA Talent Agency. TV/Film: Elsbeth, Ratu Ratu Queens: The Series (premiering on Netflix this Fall). They are 1/5th of the band Granite Garden, catch him playing flute and synth around the city. Insta: @rodeo.ren

Jessie Heesacker (BLUE - he/she/they) is an NYC based actor and singer. Some of their favorite credits include Melissa Kelly in American High / Hartbeat Production’s feature film Prom Dates on Hulu directed by Kim O. Nguyen, Andromache in Trojan Women directed by Ricardo Vazquez, and Frank in Melancholy Play directed by Emma Simms. Jessie dreams of intersecting his trans identity and love for sci-fi/fantasy in the form of theatre productions. As a start into this artistic endeavor, Jessie recently played the role of Bobby in their first original play, Searching. She hopes you enjoy this incredibly written and extremely important play!

Valeria Aceves (ROBIN - they/she) is a proud Mexican actor and graduate of The Neighborhood Playhouse 22'. Some of their recent credits include Rock Of Ages (Wolfie Award), Everyday Enchanted, Suitcase Of Dreams, The Waiting Room, among others. Mia Angelique (SLOANE - she/her) is an Ohio-born, Brooklyn-based actor/singer with BFA in musical theatre from Millikin University. Favorite credits include every single iteration of Show Me Eternity (AMAS Musical Theatre Lab, Culture Lab LIC, 54 Below, New York Theatre Festival) and Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (Short North Stage). Other New York credits include The Moss Maidens (SheNYC) as well as several readings including Terestea: An Original Fantasy Adventure, The Last Ibex, and A Sign You Were Alive.
